The GRAYBELT Academy is a Delaware LLC and a wholly owned subsidiary of GRAYBELT Innovations. Its main objective is to build company templates using GRAYBELT components. A “Company Template” is a concept unique to GRAYBELT: an outline for a complete business across any number of sectors.
For example, CISOware LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of GRAYBELT. CISOware develops, markets, and sells a product called Reflex, an information security product used for Incident Response. It uses GRAYBELT’s definition of AI, which is very different from that of frontier AI companies. It enables many unique features because of its ability to explain people to a computer—I am specifically phrasing it that way as opposed to what is commonly said about AI “understanding.” Standard AI presents its intelligence through complex mathematical models. GRAYBELT AI simulates intelligence by making decisions that mimic how its user would think. It contains a number of patent-pending technologies that enable a human to be described to a computer in a way it can process. This function allows the prediction of how prepared an information security group is against any particular threat.
The specifications for Reflex were created by some of the people who first defined the field of information security. Over a period of 10+ years, technology was developed to tackle the most difficult challenges in the industry.
The key to its ability to explain people is the fact that its understanding is domain-specific. In other words, it is an expert in one domain: Information Security. For example, it has a vocabulary of about 23,000 words and phrases.

The number-one rule for creating a domain-specific AI is that it must be developed by a team that includes at least one expert in the target domain, and it requires human input in numerous places.
Reflex was created by experts in the field of information security, all having more than 30 years of experience. The company template that evolved from the Reflex project can be used in many other fields that are in no way related to information security. The key is that they must be configured by a domain expert.
It has been very challenging trying to explain this technology. People are quantified by their skills and years of experience; a person is a collection of these variables. A computer can’t understand personality traits or work ethic, but it can understand numbers. By quantifying people, this technology gains capabilities far beyond those of artificial intelligence based strictly on large language models. When working in conjunction with large language models, it creates disruptive technology across multiple fields.
The technologies discussed on this site were all developed while building Reflex. The biggest hurdle is in envisioning it as a business because it is so diverse. For example, looking at just one domain—information security—Reflex can be used as a product offered as SaaS, where the backend is run by the owner of Reflex. It can also be run as a franchise model where outsourcing companies serve their own customers and Reflex is white-labeled for them while the parent company manages the backend.
The GRAYBELT AI in Reflex is built upon understanding human skills. Traditionally, this falls under the realm of human resources. Reflex has an HR component where a manager can create a job posting, and the system can review candidate resumes to determine how they fit into daily work. This technology led to the invention of a system that truly understands the content of a candidate’s resume. It does not perform simple word-matching; it understands what the words mean strictly in terms of information security. Its expertise is information security.
There is a multibillion-dollar industry that sifts through large numbers of resumes to find candidates matching job descriptions using old-school keyword matching with no intelligence beyond basic synonyms. A company offering true semantic understanding for information security hiring would be groundbreaking. However, a company running an information security business is very different from a company managing HR functions—they are two completely different fields. That is where the idea of a company template comes in. As stated on other GRAYBELT websites, our intent is acquisition. However, no single acquiring company wants to operate in dozens of different market sectors. GRAYBELT Innovations is a company for creating companies.
